Iron Curtain, Stonewall, Fur Trade

1989 -- The dismantling of the Iron Curtain starts in Hungary, marking the end of the Berlin Wall, the reunification of Germany, and the beginning of the end of the Cold War.

1945 -- Soviet Union announces the capture of Berlin. The red flag is flown over the Reichstag.

1863 -- American Civil War: Stonewall Jackson is wounded by friendly fir while returning to camp. He succumbs to pneumonia eight days later.

1670 -- King Charles II of England grants a permanent charter to the Hudson's Bay Company to open up the fur trade in North America.
